Background: Nermal Calista was mostly taken care of by her Samaka mother. They would travel through the ocean a lot and sing their hearts out, gathering crowds of fish, both predator and prey. However, the performances stopped once her mother and their supporters were captured by fishermen, but Nermal managed to get away. Being only 10 at the time, Nermal was scared and didn't know what to do. Luckily, a kind manta ray(Nermal called him Mr. Manta) decided to take her in and took care of her. However, after two years, Mr. Manta was dying of old age and told her he couldn't take care of her any longer. Becoming desperate, Nermal swam up to land finding someone to help, and luckily Jacqueline and her family were nearby(they were at a beach). Mr. Manta declined the help and told Nermal to live with them instead. So now, Nermal is a part of the Brookes family. They gave her everything she needed to be taken care of, and Jacqueline and her became the best of friends and sisters. Not used to living the human life, she's naturally shy at the Forestopolis Academy and anywhere else in the city, but she is nice to everyone. She becomes a different person once she starts singing, but she'll only sing for small crowds. She's happy to be friends with Jacqueline, Tenacity, Melissa, and Rose, even though Jacqueline is the only one that knows she's a Samaka(which will change soon once Amethyst comes around).
